Golden Globes 2023 | Eddie Murphy: Zahlt eure Steuern, kümmert euch um euren Kram und nehmt nicht den Namen von Will Smith‘ Frau in den Mund!

Der Himmel über Hollywood: Grau. Der „rote“ Teppich: Grau. Begründung: Weil Grau besser mit den übrigen Farben bei den 80. Golden Globe Awards harmonieren würde. Vielleicht aber auch, weil dieses Mal alles anders, alles irgendwie neu sein sollte. Oder Grau eben auch einfach ein Mittelding zwischen Schwarz und Weiß ist. Womit man dann zumindest nicht mehr ganz so viel falsch machen kann, wenn man zuvor anscheinend eine ganze Menge falsch gemacht hat.

Und sonst: Schwarzer Host (Jerrod Carmichael), schwarzer Humor (auf die gastgebende Hollywood Foreign Press gemünzt), viel zu viele Kategorien, Preise und Gewinner – aber im Verhältnis dazu wie immer zu wenig Zeit. Ansprachen (von HFPA-Präsidentin Helen Hoehne und vom ukrainischen Präsidenten Wolodymyr Selenskyi), die vielleicht richtig und wichtig waren – aber eben auch Zeit kosten und den Ablauf ausbremsen. Wie gesagt: Man war ganz offensichtlich bemüht, bloß ja nichts falsch zu machen. Die Preisträger (vollständige Liste siehe unten) wie schon die Nominierungen: So divers, wie es nur irgendwie ging. Heidi Klums Outfit war – sorry – ein Griff ins Klo. Die meisten Lacher erntete der mit dem Preis für sein Lebenswerk, den Cecil B. DeMille Award, ausgezeichnete Eddie Murphy, als er seine drei goldenen Erfolgsregeln zum Besten gab.

Zu den prämierten Filmen: Den ganz großen Abräumer gab es – gemessen an der Zahl der Nominierungen – auch bei den diesjährigen Golden Globes nicht. Bei den Oscars könnten THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN, THE FABELMANS und EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE die Sache unter sich ausmachen. TÁR scheint abgehängt zu sein. Von AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER war überhaupt keine Rede. Wenn am  24.1.2023, die Oscar-Nominierungen vollständig verkündet werden, wird man sehen, ob es da noch Raum für Überraschungen gibt… etwa eine Nominierung von Globes-Preisträger RRR als bester Film?

Fazit: Keiner hat keinem eine geklebt. Von Boykott-Bestrebungen war nicht soviel zu merken. Tom Cruise war natürlich nicht da – dafür wurden über seine drei zurückgegebenen Globes halbgelungene Witze gemacht. Cate Blanchett, Zendaya und Amanda Seyfried waren als Preisträger auch nicht da – aber durch zu viel Arbeit entschuldigt. Ebenso der für YELLOWSTONE ausgezeichnete Kevin Costner – dem aber die aktuellen kalifornischen Wetterverhältnisse einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht hatten.

Und die wichtigste Frage: Sind die Golden Globes jetzt wirklich wieder zurück im Business? Schwierige Frage. Die WIR gerne erst im nächsten Jahr, beim nächsten Mal beantworten würden. Bei den 81. Golden Globe Awards. Also 2024. Entweder wieder an einem Dienstag – oder vielleicht doch wieder am Sonntag?
